I'm not a cookie cutter wife or mom. I make mistakes, but I try to learn from them. I'm not perfect, but I love my life...and isn't that everything?

A whole lotta TV

I'm addicted to Grey's Anatomy lately. I love it. I watch it whenever I can - folding laundry, during baby naps, late at night. I'm DVRing the current season but I don't think I'll know what's going on. lol.

J & I love TV. So, so does S. We try to limit his TV time, but the boy loves it. I'm still confident that he watches less than other kiddos his age. Our TV is not on 24-7 and we make a point to turn it off often. (This is not what this post was intended to be, btw). And we are in complete control of what he watches. We're strict w ratings.

J & I love Harry's Law, The Biggest Loser, How I Met Your Mother. I love Parenthood and am bummed that Brothers & Sisters was cancelled. We just started giving the new ones PanAm, The Playboy Club and Whitney a try. Not too bad so far. Oldies we like are the classics - M*A*S*H, and The Cosby Show. I love Gilmore Girls.

That's a whole lotta TV.

Late night musings...

J is snoring, C is asleep for the...3rd time tonight and S is at Grandpa's house! I'm wiiiiide awake. It's okay. It's the only time I get to myself. I just took advantage of this time and painted my nails! Yay!

A college friend of mine is getting married tomorrow and I'm worried about me. How my nails aren't salon done, my hair is NOT cut well or highlighted...and let's not talk about the baby pudge I'm carrying around. However, I have TWO glorious dresses that (hopefully) camouflage the worst of it and I can't choose between the two. I have hot pink shoes and pashmina and a fabulous clutch. Now, I know I will never show up the girls that have no kiddos yet...but ...do they get unlimited kisses and hugs? No. I am blessed.

I am soooo looking forward to eating a hot meal when it's ready and not holding someone because they're crying while attempting to get my food from my plate to my mouth. Which you think is simple. Everyone masters that right? Well, add a 6mo bouncy crying whiny baby who wants that fork to your lap and it's an Olympic sport. I'm a ....silver medalist, working on gold. Usually I give up and end up eating it cold hours later. (So how am I not losing weight?) haha

OOOOOH it's going to be such fun! Countless of us college girls getting back together. Kid free. With an open bar. Hotel room on the property. I hope the husbands are prepared. Lord do I need this and am so excited! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Come Sunday, my head will be killing me, the sun will make me cringe, my feet and back will be screaming, but oooooooh will it be worth it. My girls and me all back together for a glorious night of celebration! Whoo! Oh and celebrating K's marriage of course. ;-)

It makes me reflect on J & mine's marriage and everything we've come through already in 7 years. I won't detail it here...well, because it's private. But it entails ~10 different jobs between the two of us, 2 apt, one house, losing 3 grandparents, going through 2 friends divorces with them, 2 children of our own, nieces and nephews, 3 vehicles (not bad), physical injuries including knee and shoulder surgeries, major financial difficulties and night schooling. There's obv so much more bc you could never just sum up your life like that...however, we've already gone through and overcome a lot that most ppl wouldn't have to go through so soon/quickly in a marriage. And it shows. Looking back at photos of us from the beginning...well, we're just two young bright eyed, pretty good looking, in love people...and now...we look beat. We are beat! But loving each other more every day. He's definitely my compass rose. And I love him.

Love or use?

Stole this quote and modified it a bit...‎
People were created to be loved while things were created to be used. The problem with the world today is that things are being loved and people are being used.

Love people, not things. Use things, not people.

How incredibly true...and sad. Why do we live like this? Some ppl might blame lack of religion and therefore "good" focus. Some might blame family units and how they've changed (awful and a topic for another time). Some might blame Hollywood, celebs and athletes. I blame it all. Though I believe everyone has the ability to be good, it is easier for most to be "bad". It's easier to fall into the wants than to be satisfied with the needs.

What, I mean who, do you love?
But go back to the what do you love question and answer it. And do you value those things more than the "whos"? I have to shamefacedly admit, some, I do. And now that my attention has been brought to it, I'm going to work to change it. There is absolutely no one more important in my life than God, J, S and C (and extended family of course). I need to work on making sure that everyday, I make them feel loved and not used.

Inspiration for the title...

4 years later...

...It's like a movie fade out...LOL.
Well, geez, I was finally able to pinpoint what email I had used to start this bugger and retrieved my password!
We bought a house in Oct 2008? It's nice - was move in ready. The previous owners live next door! We've enjoyed it but have since outgrown it because....we had another baby boy in Dec 2010! Welcome to the world!
And we've had umpteen changes here and there. Lay offs and new jobs and job cuts and financial hardships and major car repairs and shoulder injuries and operations...and we lost 2 grandparents. Gram passed April 13th, 2010 and J's Grandpa passed October 2010... and C inherited his name as his middle name. 2010 was a whirlwind for sure. But have an end goal in our sights and are making our way there. It will take years and lifetimes, but we're on the move. LOL.

My most recent job was lovely. K-6 Spanish. I loved it when I was allowed to do it. But...in lieu of recent education cuts that abound, my position was cut to part time. It does not make financial (or mental) sense to trudge forward with it, so I am officially, once again, and this time to my relief not horror, a SAHM. I couldn't be happier. It makes me squeeeeee with joy. ;-)

That's all for now, because the 7yo is tearing crosswords out of newspapers (thoughtful but messy) and the 7 mo is squealing in his C.O.N.

To all who are reading...I thank you...see you soon. Sooner than 3 years, I promise.
